All systems go as CUC Macleay Valley appoints Centre Manager

28 Oct 2020

Country Universities Centre (CUC) Macleay Valley board is proud to announce the recruitment of its new Centre Manager, Kinne Ring, who hit the ground running in the role on 6 October 2020.

CUC Macleay Valley was given the green light through combined NSW Government, and Commonwealth support announced earlier this year. The recruitment of the Centre Manager is a significant milestone as the Centre progresses towards establishment for 2021.

CUC Macleay Valley Chair, Liz Campbell, said that the board was overwhelmed with interest in the advertised position and very happy with the outcome.

Kinne brings six years of experience working within the university sector as well as close ties with the Macleay Valley. When these combined, she stood out as an exceptional candidate for our Centre. She is passionate about increasing the participation of students in higher education, and we think she will be an excellent fit, supporting students considering studying for the first time and working with high achieving students too. Kinne has already hit the ground running. There is much to be done from here until we open the doors to students in early 2021, we’re extremely excited to have her on board.

Ms Ring said that a significant motivator in applying for the position was the chance to return and give back to her community she grew up in.

The Macleay Valley was my home. I grew up here and I’ve been looking for the opportunity to start the next chapter of my life here. I know what it’s like to have to leave to study. Having the Country Universities Centre here in Kempsey will be of enormous help to those students who want to achieve their higher education dreams without leaving their friends and family, Ms Ring said.

Kinne has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Newcastle and has worked both with that university and at the University of Wollongong.

CUC Macleay Valley’s goal is to open its doors to students for semester I, 2021 and the recruitment of a Centre Manager will significantly assist this. Now we have Kinne on board, we’d encourage any students thinking about studying online next year to reach out and contact us to learn more about our Centre and how the CUC Macleay Valley can assist you and your studies.

Any interested students should feel free to contact the CUC Macleay Valley Centre Manager, Kinne Ring, on degrees@cucmacleayvalley.edu.au
