Sharing Stories (Year 7 and 8)

Commencing in May 2025, CUC Macleay Valley has delivered the Sharing Stories project to build the confidence and self-efficacy of year 7/8 students in the Macleay Valley area by empowering them as individuals and community members, recognising they have a voice and exploring appropriate ways to share their stories.

In-School Workshops are held on a fortnightly basis CUC Macleay Valley staff actively work with year 7 students to engage respectfully, sharing ideas and concerns and expressing their individuality through the creation of zines. The sessions are hands-on and feature aspects of the creative arts and self-publishing

Future goals of the Sharing Stories project are to work with year 8 students to create “reels” or short form content that explore their futures and expand to other local high schools in the Macleay Valley area. The project includes school visits, co-design workshops, and undertaking of creative projects. ANU will also employ a Research Officer to evaluate the program’s impact.
